On Wednesday 14th March, Miss Moon, Miss Evans, Mr MacBlain, Mr Bishop & I met 42 year 9 students on Hungerford Road at 5am. From there, we drove down to Dover and got on a ferry to Calais, in France. We spent the next 3 days visiting major landmarks in France & Belgium which had been part of WWI. 2 of our students (Henry Lewis & Casie Dixon – Jaguar) were privileged enough to lay a wreath in the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate on Wednesday night. We crammed loads into the visit and didn’t arrive home until 11pm on Friday night.
Throughout the visit, students were impeccably behaved and embraced lots of opportunities including crepe making and eating ‘escargot’ – snails!
All the staff involved were thoroughly impressed with the way that the students conducted themselves and represented the College. We now can’t wait to take our next group out in 2013! (See Mrs Reed or Miss Moon if you’re in Year 8 and interested!)
Thank You, to all involved for being an asset to the College.
